Do 'I' really exist?

Who am 'I' ?

This thought has been there with me for quite sometime now. The more I think of it, the trickier it is to understand. So posting this question my first blog leaves enough time(till the time ends) to discuss and see whether 'I' really exist!!!

Am 'I' my mind? Perhaps yes. My Mind controls my body. My body cannot function without my thoughts and my mind's orders.

I was pretty clear - 'I' am my mind.

But 'I' held on to ask myself this next question.

Am 'I' my body? Perhaps Yes. My body represents the 'Physical ME'. Where do the thoughts get created without me, my physical self.

So I guess - 'I' am my body.

Good!!! Apparently 'I' am both my mind and body.

Then what do i mean when i say 'MY MIND' and 'MY BODY'.

Are they two different things?

Come on.. don't throw me a paradox for to explain an alphabet.

Mm..Things are getting pretty weird...

then,

Who am 'I' ? ? ?

Do/Does 'I' really exist?

  1. Answer lies in Bhagawad Gita Chapter 3, Verse 24

    indriyani parany ahur
    indriyebhyah param manah
    manasas tu para buddhir
    yo buddheh paratas tu sah

    Translation
The working senses are superior to dull matter; mind is higher than the senses; intelligence is still higher than the mind; and he [the soul] is even higher than the intelligence.

You are not your physical body, you are not your senses, you are not your mind, you are not your false ego, you are not your intelligence, but you are the soul. You are indivisible, imperishable, can't be doused by water, can't be burnt by fire. You are a part and parcel of the Lord. But not the Lord himself.
